GERA-IDENT successfully completes reconstruction measures for energy-efficient heat utilization.

GERA-IDENT successfully concluded reconstruction measures to improve heat utilization in production, thus increasing energy efficiency. The implementation of this heating concept is part of various measures that seek to improve sustainability within the company.

An energy efficiency consultant carried out an extensive, measurement-technology backed situation analysis and drafted a heat concept for the comprehensive enhancement of energy utilization within the production process of the company.

As a result, the use of heat from compressed air generation as supplementary space heating in winter and in transitional seasonal periods in production was introduced. The emerging heat is thereby transferred via an air duct for the heating of the halls. For cooling during the summer months, cold air is drawn in from the outside, while emerging heat is led back outside via a diversion damper.

To realize this concept, the installation site of the air compressors had to be altered. The new compressor room is now located between the two main production halls and can therefore be used for heating both halls. During reconstruction, a lot of attention was paid to ensure that those modifications did not have negative impacts on the quality of the work environment.

The project, which was funded by the Free State of Thuringia, was co-financed by European Union funds within the scope of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).Sustainability in general is an important matter for GERA-IDENT.

For example, the switch to green electricity was done a long time ago. In this regard, the company does its share to contribute to resource conservation as well as environmental protection.
